Sidney Crosby Pittsburgh Penguins Goalie ?

Very amusing line of questions from Dan Patrick about Sidney Crosby as a goalie !

https://www.facebook.com/NHLonNBCSports/videos/1547584135261858/

Thank You, Pittsburgh

Warning: You may need a tissue or two.

This heartfelt tribute written by Marc-Andre Fleury is very moving. In this day of free agency and players switching teams for bigger paydays we were oh so blessed to have Marc-Andre for 14 years.

He was a great goaltender. But an even better person.

We wish you and you family all the best. But deep down inside, Marc-Andre Fleury will always be a Pittsburgh Penguin to me.

#MerciFleury

Pens Acquire Reaves

Penguins added some much needed "muscle" with the acquisition of Ryan Reaves
and a 2nd round pick for Oskar Sundqvist and the 31st overall pick.

Mike Sullivan stated: "He brings a physical dimension, which is something that can help us moving forward."

Rutherford stated "When you want to get the guy that's the best at doing what he does then you have to pay a price," "Regardless of what we paid, we're very happy to have him."

Rutherford on the trade: "It wasn't about flipping the picks, it was about trading Oskar for him."

Pittsburgh Penguins 2017-2018 Schedule

The Pittsburgh Penguins 2017-2018 schedule was released today.

Some of the highlights include:

October 4 - Banner raising ceremony.

October 7 - Stanley Cup rematch versus Preds.

February 2 - First game against the Caps.

February 6 - First home game versus the Golden Knights and MAF.

One of the highlights for me is that the Penguins play the Bolts twice in Tampa - October 12 and October 21. They play the Panthers in Sunrise on October 20 and February 24. I'm thinking a road trip to Sunrise, FL may be in order here.

Here are some schedule tidbits from the Penguins:

  • "Pittsburgh's first visit to Las Vegas to play Fleury and the Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena will be Thursday, December 14 at 10:00 PM.
  • The five-day stretch between Jan. 8-12 will be the Penguins' longest of the season without a game.
  • The final contest of the five home games the Penguins will host in October is against Patrik Laine and the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday, October 26.
  • The Penguins don't play the Montreal Canadiens until the 72nd game of the season on Thursday, March 15. Beginning that night, the Pens and Habs will square off three times in a 17-day span.
  • Pittsburgh ends the regular season with back-to-back games. The front half will be at Columbus on Thursday, April 5, and the season finale will be Friday, April 6 against Ottawa at PPG Paints Arena.
  • The Pens play 19 sets of back-to-back games throughout the season. "

Goodbye Marc-Andre Fleury

Marc-Andre Fleury is no longer a Pittsburgh Penguin.

He was selected in the expansion draft by the Las Vegas Golden Knights:

Here is what the Las Vegas Golden Knights stated on Twitter:

"When you build a team from scratch, you start from the net out. We also decided to start with a Stanley Cup champion. #VegasDraft"

The Penguins on Twitter stated:

"Vegas, you got a good one.

Fleury, you are an incredible netminder, prankster, teammate, and an even better person. Thank you. #MerciFleury"

All I can say is #MerciFleury.

You will always be a champion to me !

Welcome To Pens Den !

I have been a die hard Pittsburgh Penguins fan since  going to my first game in 1972.  Back in the day we were lucky to get 10 games a season on television so I spent a lot of late nights listening to the voice of the Penguins Mike Lange.

Through the years I estimate having been to over 700 NHL games and count among my highlights: going to all but two games during the 2009 playoffs, going to Game 4 of the 2016 ECF in Tampa, and going to game 1 and game 5 of the 2016 Finals in Pittsburgh.
